Linking up media coverage of high school lacrosse in the Great Lax State.
Bay City Western and Bay City Eastern Season Previews
An odd time for this to come out on MLive, since both of these schools have been playing for a while, but Bay City Central and Western team previews just popped up, along with an overview of both schools.
Speaking of Bay City Central, they fell victim to Saginaw Heritage by a 9-4 score. Western beat Cadillac 13-2.
Saginaw Heritage 10, Swartz Creek 5
Flint Powers 7, Cranbrook 6 (OT)
Gina Scarpelli put home the game-winner for Powers.
Forest Hills Northern/Eastern 8, Forest Hills Central 7
It’s weird to see these teams described as “rivals” by the article’s headline, since that was definitely not the case when I attended FHC. Also Eastern didn’t exist (and it was a Northern/Central combined team). Maybe I’m just behind the times. Photo gallery.
FHC, who won the state championship last year, graduated 19 seniors(!), including a pair of D-1 players and two who went the D-3 route.
Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 15, Madison Heights Bishop Foley 12
Senior middie Colin McMahon put 8 points on the board for Richard, and junior Anthony Lupui scored 5 goals. The Fighting Irish improved to 4-3 on the year.
Gabriel Richard 11, Ann Arbor Greenhills 3
McMahon again led the team in scoring, but defense was the story of the day.
Dexter 8, Ann Arbor Huron 4
I managed to stop by this game, so enjoy some photos:
Dexter led 4-0 at halftime (when I left), and held on in an even second half. Dexter’s Andrew Erber (committed to play D-1 at VMI) did it all for the Dreadnaughts, taking faceoffs, scoring a goal, and notching 5 assists. Michel Spuller scored 5 times.
Grosse Point South 7, Utica Eisenhower 5
The D Zone BLog was on hand for a game report and photos. Protip: put the final score somewhere in the first couple paragraphs in game stories. That site also has this week’s high school lacrosse schedule for the state.
If you have any game recaps, photos, news tips, etc., feel free to e-mail them to me at t.w.sullivan1@gmail.com, and I’ll post them in this feature.
Tim – can “Grosse Pointe” have it’s “e” back plz?
Whoops, I keep getting messed up because it used to be wrong on LaxPower, and it made me doubt which way is correct.
