Use this post to comment on today’s games, etc. If I’ve missed any games (particularly in the D2/D3 ranks, where I’m not familiar with all the schools), let me know.
I’m planning to be at both men’s D-1 games, and possibly a high school game or two if I can fit them in.
Big win for UDM.
Bad loss for UofM.
This is where the season gets tough for Michighan. Can they keep their heads up despite the losses.
Great win for UDM. They need to keep it going now. Was an exciting game, and loved the finish. Matthews was shut down all day, but found a way in OT to get it done.
I got there late for UM because of the UDM game, so I missed the part where they played well. Seems to be a pattern. They are even in the first quarter through the season so far. That’s actually a pretty amazing stat for them. Then they fall apart at some point in the second or third. Eventually the talent difference shows up, and think that’s what happened again yesterday. Plus they can’t win faceoffs. When you are not as good AND you never get the ball, that’s a tough combination.
I was in the same boat with the UM game, though I managed to make it in just as it was starting.
I actually think the first-quarter leads for Michigan are amazing, as well. Obviously, they aren’t nearly as talented as most of the team’s they’re laying (indicated by the final scores), so what is it that’s allowing them to jump on top first? They’re facing off better, running the offense better, and riding better at the beginning of games, before things start to fall apart.
I actually was going to ask JP if he had any idea what’s allowing them to come out of the gates so fast time and again, but I didn’t stick around for any postgame.
