There should be plenty of material, since it’s been nearly two weeks since a links post. Let’s get right into it:
Michigan/Detroit
Tickets tickets, get yer tickets to the Detroit v. Michigan game on Feb. 12. If you’re a student, you can enter a lottery for one of 50 free tickets to the game.
Michigan and Detroit have six opponents in common this spring. Have a first look at all of them. Season preview materials should resume this week, and there are just under three weeks until Detroit cracks open the 2012 campaign against Delaware.
Streaming
Michigan’s games against Jacksonville and Mercer, and Davenport’s games against St. Thomas and North Dakota State will stream live on Laxx.tv. The price is four bucks per game (or 25 for the entire season, which includes 24 total MCLA and NCAA games, plus a Florida high school contest).
Recruiting
It’s been a long time since a Signing Day photo has graced these pages. Fairfield Prep (Conn.) Michigan signee Charles Keady to the rescue!
The Michigan women’s pickup of Amanda Sutor was ESPNHS’s top girls recruiting story over the New Year.
Brother Rice junior midfielder Sergio Perkovic has committed to Notre Dame. Inside Lacrosse blurb:
A 6-foot-4, 220-pound midfielder who is also a standout tight end and defensive end in football, Perkovic has played two years of varsity lacrosse for the Warriors. Last summer, he attended the Brine Shootout and made the All-Star game at Top 205. Perkovic strongly considered Michigan, Cornell and Harvard.
According to PhillyLacrosse.com, Michigan has picked up a 2014 commitment from Chase Young:
Also considered: Penn State, Ohio State
Club Affiliation: Duke’s Lacrosse Club, Rebel Elite
Major lacrosse honors: Philly Showcase Gait Fab 40, 2011; Big 4 All-Stars, 2011.
He’s the second known 2014 to commit to Michigan, but I get the impression that more 2014 verbals are on the way soon.
Gear, Facilities
The new locker room for the inaugural varsity lacrosse team at Michigan has opened (via @UmichLacrossse):
The coaches’ office also picked up a new piece of flair:
Gloves? Gloves.
412 Lax deems Michigan’s new gloves overly Drexel-ish.
2012 Season is Nigh
Practices are underway in Detroit.
Michigan, understandably, is looking forward to 2012. The Wolverines’ inaugural season will certainly be one to watch. M Magazine profiles Wolverine 5th-year attackman Trevor Yealy.
Lacrosse All-Stars is going out on a limb to predict that Michigan will win a handful of games this spring. Many experts are predicting a single win (poor Mercer), and limited opportunities to be competitive, much less win.
Recap from the fourth and final Michigan coaching clinic of the winter. Now that the season is underway, the coaching staff obviously has more important concerns.
The 2012 Detroit women’s schedule is now available.
Aquinas College’s 2012 schedule is available on the MCLA website.
Etc.
Hope has named its inaugural men’s and women’s varsity lacrosse coaches. Both Michael Schanhals and Tracy Benjamin are movin’ on up from their respective club coaching positions to the varsity gigs at Hope.
Heat Lacrosse, a club team from West Michigan, participated in the Dicks Sporting Good Tournament of Champions in Florida over the new year (pictured at right). I’ll try to roundup a report on how they performed.

If you’re interested in following the various MCLA teams in Michigan this spring, the MCLA iPhone App might be worth the $0.99.
Congratulations to Michigan coach John Paul, whose wife Lisa gave birth to the couple’s first child last week.
Michigan’s Wolverine War team camp has been scheduled for July 5-7 this summer.
As always, you can e-mail me tips, reports, etc. at t.w.sullivan1@gmail.com, or tweet them @GreatLaxState. Follow GLS on Twitter for the latest information.
That locker room looks a lot like the football locker room. Beautiful. Way better than the facilities warehouse I got.
The room looks great, even if it’ll possibly be a little cramped when the whole team is trying to gear up. I wonder where it is, because the practice facilities, competition facilities, etc. seem to be in various places across the athletic campus.
Where are the iPad nameplates?

Congrats to JP and his wife on the new addition. Quite a year the man is having.
Also, get your tickets early for the Feb 12th game. I expect that it will sell out w/ all the buzz I’m hearing surrounding the game.
Reg, I heard that a UDM supporter wanted to buy 1,000 of the tickets, but that his request was turned down by the Ultimate Soccer Arena management.
News to me. I’ll ask though.
Why in the world would Ultimate Soccer turn down $10,000 in revenue?
Totally false rumor. Largest request was a HS coach wanting to take his own program and he got the 100 he wanted.
Presale is going so well right now that if someone asked for 1000 they wouldn’t have enough tickets to sell them.
Reg, the mass ticket purchase request was made early on in the process. It’s true, given that the source was one of the owners of the complex. Also, it’s not anything that’s terribly out of the ordinary. This kind of thing happens all the time with boosters and events…whether it’s athletics, the arts, or some other type of organization. It’s a good way to guarantee attendance and/or your fans in particular.
Interesting. I was told by a UDM rep it was false. I’ll see George on Sunday and ask him. As the owner of the USA I’m sure he’ll be able to confirm or deny.
I didn’t get a chance to see George yesterday. I’ll try to talk to him Tuesday and find out what the story is.
Michiganlaxer, rest assured that all of the tickets will sell. No doubt Ultimate Soccer wanted to ensure that the general public had equal access to tickets (and at face value).
