A lot went on late ast week and over the weekend, and it was probably one of the biggest stretches of content I’ve produced:
- Brother Rice 24, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 3. I made it out to my first high school game of the year on Wednesday, and took a bunch of pictures.
- I liveblogged the Michigan/Colorado State game for CollegeLax, you can click through to read a replay of the blog to relive the highs and lows of the game. I also recapped the game afterward: Michigan 121, Colorado State 3.
- Same story with the thriller in Ann Arbor the following night, liveblog for CollegeLax, and a game recap: Michigan 12, Arizona State 10. The liveblog post also includes a comment from Vuvuzela Kid’s Dad, and I am very honored that he commented. First comment by a pseudo-celebrity for sure.
- On Saturday afternoon, Detroit scored a huge upset over Siena to keep their dreams of a MAAC conference championship alive. UDM postgame video with goalie AJ Levell:
There’s also postgame video with Matt Lining and Troy Dennis.
There were also a lot of goings-on that I didn’t write about. Michigan State gave up a 4-goal fourth quarter lead (5-9) to choke away a victory against Colorado State in overtime, which caused me to be a little… pessimistic about their chances against Arizona State. The CSU game should be available for replay on collegelax.tv soon.
Well, the Spartans certainly proved me wrong. They led by as much as a 10-2 score late in the third quarter, but despite their best efforts to be crushed by huge comebacks two days in a row, they managed to hold on for the 12-11 win. Huge victory for the Spartan program, and they could be headed toward a top-5 seed in the MCLA Tournament.
Speaking of which, following the weekend, Jac Coyne busts out some MCLA Bracketology. I had a Bracketology series on mgoblog last year, and will continue that in this space starting soon.
In the high school ranks, there has been a lot of action since last I covered it. Link roundup:
- Forest Hills Central (alma mater what what) 13, Portage Central 7. MLive recap.
- Lake Orion 12, Saginaw Heritage 4. (MLive).
- Kalamazoo-area preview in the K-Zoo Gazzette.
- Vicksburg HS preview in the Gazzette.
- AA Huron 10, Lansing Waverly 8. (MLive).
There isn’t a whole lot of high school lacrosse coverage out there in this state (one of the many reasons I started this site), so if you want to drop me a line about any games you see, or your kid’s school team, I’m accepting e-mails at t.w.sullivan1@gmail.com.
