No amateur photographer yet again this week – though I can hardly regret the decision as the “game” was hardly worth playing in, let alone shooting.
Begin rant:
Playing for 45 minutes on half a field with one goalie, takebacks to the midfield line, is not worth 23 bucks to me, plain and simple (that’s two out of four weeks with fewer than two goalies, for those keeping score at home). When the ref is more interested in joking around than calling the game, why bother having one? I’d much rather have players self-police and take my fee down to a reasonable level – or use the money to pay a goalie to come out.
End rant.
Anyway, as it was more of a casual game, the experience wasn’t quite so pleasant (in case the rant didn’t get that across) as it has been the past two weeks. I managed a goal and two assists, but like, it’s just practice, man.
There is a pretty good one monday nights at aquinas college, $10 drop in, good turn out, there is an actual ref. It is a lot of fun if you are willing to go that far.
Hmm, I may actually make it out there once by the end of this summer, since my parents live in Grand Rapids.
Haha that’s probably a three hour drive for Tim.
Anyone know of quality summer drop-in lax in the metro detroit area?
If anyone does know of a good drop-in venue, I’ll gladly promote it (growing the game was one of my motivations for starting this site, after all).
