Sorry for the lack of posting over the last couple days, I’ve been occupied with Big Ten Media Days for the day job. I promise I’ll be back for real on Monday.
Game 5 was yet another week with just one goalie, but instead of going half-field with takebacks (a.k.a. the complete waste of 23 bucks), we went full-field with one net being guarded by a piece of fencing. There were plenty of guys, too, so we managed to get 6v6 the whole time, which was nice.
I managed to be the only guy who played both halves shooting on the goalie-less net, so my 2 goals and a couple assists are nothing to write home about. I only got to run midfield for part of the time (absurdly frustrating when the designated midfielders often don’t have any interest in playing both sides of the field), but got a pretty good workout in.
From an actual lacrosse experience, I think I’ve reached a weird stage in my development where I have a bit of the stuff down, but really need to play with and against guys of a similar skill level in order to be more game-ready. It’s tough practicing dodges, etc. against thin air, and also against someone who’s been playing lacrosse a ton longer than I have.
Next week is the final game of the 6-week session, so hopefully I’ll be able to go out with a good performance.
