The final of the ESPN Rise games tournament in Orlando will air tonight at 7pm ET on ESPNU, and there are a couple players of note with connections to the State of Michigan (comments from Quint Kessenich):
Cameron Dabir: Culver Military Academy 2011 – signed at Washington & Lee – attack
Dabir hails from Grosse Point, Mich., and boarded at Culver. The righty is exceptionally smart, skillful, quick and dangerous at X. He scored 8 goals in the four games and should start at W&L immediately.
Emil Weiss – Apex HS, NC 2011 – signed at Michigan – goalie
Weiss will have every opportunity to start in Ann Arbor next spring. The 6-3 netminder led Apex HS to a 19-2 campaign. He is tall and athletic. His greatest challenge will be between the ears next spring when Michigan is welcomed to Division I lacrosse in the ECAC. He will have to stay positive as the Wolverines face squads like Penn State, Denver, Loyola, Rutgers, Ohio State and North Carolina in Year One.
Dabir is a native of Michigan, and Weiss will be playing his college ball in Ann Arbor – for the record that’s the first I’ve heard about the Wolverines playing Rutgers this spring. My most recent schedule projection can be seen here.
I’m not positive about whether their teams will be on ESPNU tonight (only the top two of four teams make the final), so keep an eye on it.
