Thanks to GLS regular Reg Hartner for this report about an event this weekend:
All-American lacrosse has partnered with Lacrosse American to host the inaugural Mid-Am Lacrosse Combine and Showcase this weekend at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. This is a 2 day event that is really the first of its kind in this area. There are more Midwest-based players on NCAA rosters today than ever before. With the overall talent in the region on the upswing, coaches are trying to find the next Jeff Sonke or David Morrow and the Mid-Am hopes to help them with that.
According to Ed Chima of All American Lacrosse, the event has 24 confirmed coaches (so far), sold out at 116 players and will feature participants from 7 states and Ontario. Chima said of the 116 participants, about a third are seniors, a third of them juniors, and a third freshmen and sophomores. It may be a surprise that there are so many seniors considering we just had national signing day but Edsaid. “They really don’t have to make a decision until April, so I think a number of them are looking at all of the options and want to see if lacrosse is a factor.”
Ed is happy that it sold out and he even took it even a step further. “We’re extremely pleased with the number of colleges that are coming in and happy that we’re getting every level of competition too. D1, D2 and D3 along with MCLA coaches so that every participant can showcase their skills for the appropriate audience.” He continued “We’re most pleased with the breakdown of the players from the ages and regions they are coming from. Selling out in the inaugural year and getting so many players from places outside of Michigan was great and we hope that it’s the first of many and we get bigger and better every year.”
The event will be open to the public and most of the lacrosse action will kick off Saturday Morning at 9:00 AM. For more info see the link below or visit All-American’s website.

Will you be hosting a combine in the fall of 2012 or winter 2013?
I attended your combine last November in Auburn Hills, MI — will there be another? I haven’t seen anything…..
