It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a lax links post. More than two weeks, you say? That means there should be plenty of linkin’ to do.

Recruiting
East Grand Rapids alum Jake Coretti (currently taking a postgrad year at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut) committed to play lacrosse at Rutgers.
Michigan and Detroit were among the many, many schools that sent coaches to the Philly Boys Showcase a couple weeks ago.
The New Canaan Advertiser goes in-depth with Michigan signee Peter Kraus.
For Kraus, the chance to get involved in the Michigan Wolverines’ athletic program was too much to resist. He was being recruited by Bucknell, but emerged as a target for Michigan during the summer. The staff came to a couple of tournaments, invited Kraus for a visit and he liked what he saw.
“It’s amazing,” Kraus said of the facilities, including the famed “Big House,” football stadium, where the lacrosse team will play a couple of games each year. “They’ve got so many fields — two indoor fields, one specifically for lacrosse and one for football — and they’re building a new outdoor stadium, and potentially a new indoor facility, for lacrosse. Their facilities are just out of this world.”
Excited to be a Wolverine. Much more at the link.
Inside Lacrosse reports that Michigan has picked up a 2013 commitment from VA FO Will Biagi.
High School
Brother Rice’s Sergio Perkovic played a big role in the Warriors’ football state championship, but he’s destined to play lacrosse at the next level.
Semi-high school, semi-recruiting, but I’ll slot it in here. Highlights from the Mid-American Lacrosse Combine a couple weekends ago. I managed to catch just a little bit of the first day, but didn’t see much. Does anyone know if it went well? (HT: 412 Lax on the video).
Michigan
The Wolverines’ team camp this summer seems like a good opportunity for area high school and club coaches. The website is now up, and fliers were distributed at last month’s coaching clinic (about which: the December clinic is tonight).
John Paul was the guest on the Michigan football coaches’ show a couple weeks ago, where he officially announced that the April 14 game against Ohio State will be in the Big House prior to the annual football spring game. JP also got his schmooze on with the Big Ten Network’s tailgate show. To wrap up the publicity blitz, the team was recognized on the field during the Michigan-Ohio State football game (I would include a picture, but I was so far away that it’s impossible to see what’s going on).
Michigan 2012 signee Kyle Jackson has been selected to the Canada U-19 National team. pdf link from the Canadian Lacrosse Association. (HT: official @UMichLacrosse twitter).
The Wolverines’ 2012 recruiting class will be hitting campus this weekend for their official visits. As someone who has only recently started paying attention to recruiting in non-football sports, the concept of a signee taking an official visits is totally bizarre to me.
Detroit Women
The Titans signed seven incoming players to the recruiting class of 2012, including two from the stats of Michigan. Congrats to Jenna Payne from Holt and Kylie Birney from Livonia Ladywood for signing on to continue their careers at the next level.
Aquinas
Aquinas College has named a quartet of captains for the 2012 campaign. Congratulations to James Burkhardt, Tyler Rosema, Jacob Jeffers, and Connor Sutton on the honor.
Gear Posts
Inside Lacrosse’s gear zone recently featured Michigan State swag from the MCLA Championships.
Grand Valley is rocking black helmets with blue chrome facemasks, thanks to Cascade.
New gloves for Western Michigan.
Speaking of gear, Lacrosse All-Stars features some retro items from Johns Hopkins and Michigan.
Internal Linkage
Not a lot of content since the last Lax Links post (oops), but check out a few UDM updates.
Etc.
Interested in former Michigan player Pat Stansik‘s final “Pregaming with Pat” video? You’re in luck:
This is mostly off-topic, but the Big Ten-inspired design of the logo for the Big 4 Lacrosse Academy in Philadelphia has my mind wandering to a future with Big Ten lacrosse.

Love the signing picture of Dan Kinek. The guy looking over his shoulder is Skip Flanagan. Skip has coached at Avon as well as being the Headmaster at Western Reserve. After retiring from Western Reserve he returned to coach again at Avon Old Farms. In between his college career at Rutgers Skip played for Michigan in the late 60’s to 1971. Thanks for giving back Skip!
I thought that was Skip! Didn’t realize he settled there. Great to have him still involved in the game.
