Lax Links 12-16-11

It’s a light week, but let’s get right into the links…

Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook

In the world of unsurprising news, Michigan is picked dead last in the ECAC in their inaugural year as a varsity program by Inside Lacrosse. It will take a couple years for the Wolverines to build up the talent to compete in the league. Playing a partial league schedule in year one (IL is incorrect about which teams they don’t play, however: it’s actually Fairfield and Hobart) means they have fewer opportunities to get their first ECAC win.

Adrian is picked to win the DIII Midwest Lacrosse conference, with fellow Michigan team Albion slotted eighth of ten teams. David Monroe of Adrian (Ann Arbor Huron) was among the all-conference picks by IL.

The MAAC picks have not been published on InsideLacrosse.com yet, but it’ll be interesting to see where a Detroit team that was one game away form the NCAA Tournament – and graduates exactly one player – will be placed.

Recruiting

Holt senior defenseman Jacob Zajac committed to Albion for lacrosse.

Warren De La Salle goalie Joseph Takacs committed to D-III Hendrix College.

East Grand Rapids attack Claire Ludlow is the only Michigan native on the ESPNHS 2013 Girls’ Watchlist.

Michigan hosted their 2012 signees for an official visit last weekend.

Etc.

Former Michigan faceoff specialist Brekan Kohlitz – who was the first MCLA player drafted to the MLL in 2008 – was selected by the Charlotte Copperheads of the North American Lacrosse League.
