I’ll have plenty more on Michigan and Detroit’s incoming recruiting classes later on, but for now, the news:
Brother Rice senior attackman Will Meter, who will be a freshman at Michigan this fall, has been named Mr. Lacrosse for the State of Michigan:
“His work ethic has always been tremendous,” Ambrose said. “This year he became a team captain and just kept getting better and better. He sets a good example for our younger players to follow. We’ve got a great coaching staff that puts a lot of work in, but at the end of the day, if you don’t have senior leadership, you’re not going to win. You need leadership and work ethic and Will showed both of those consistently.”
Meter is one of the key pieces of the Wolverines’ incoming crop of recruits. The rest of the All-State selections can be found on the MSHLCA website. In Division-1, Brother Rice led the way in selections (shocker!) with 5 first-team selections, while Detroit Catholic Central had 4. Notre Dame Prep and Forest Hills Central led the way in Division-2 with 4 selections apiece.
Clarkston coach Brian Kaminskas was named Coach of the Year.
