I have no reason to doubt the veracity of LaxPower’s database, but it’s been known to be behind from time to time, so when it’s ahead of the game, I’m a little skeptical. That said, four more Michigan commits (in addition to the five that are already known) have shown up on their database. They are as follows:
- New Canaan, CT Midfielder Peter Kraus (not to be confused with Peter Krauss ’08 from Michigan’s club team)
- Hill Academy, ON Midfielder Kyle Jackson
- Severn, MD LSM Chase Brown
- Fairfield Prep, CT Defense/LSM Charlie Keady
Once confirmation for some of those commits comes down through ESPN Rise and/or InsideLacrosse (though intrepid readers have already mentioned a couple of these guys as potential commitments), I’ll get crackin’ on their Hello posts. Chris Walker’s post comes this afternoon, with Will Perkins likely to drop tomorrow or Wednesday.
Tim – any insight into the goalie situation next year? Is Emil Weiss the presumed starter? Is either Stone or Fowler staying for a 5th year?
I think keeper is the position I’m most concerned about next year.
My understanding is that Weiss is indeed the presumed starter, and neither Fowler nor Stone is expected to return (don’t quote me on that, but they weren’t mentioned by JP when asked about the topic of returning 5th-years in the past). If somebody already on the roster – Cy Abdelnour loks like the primary option – can step up, maybe Weiss won’t win the job. However, I beieve he’s expected to start.
The goalie situation will be determined when everyone gets there in the Fall and starts playing. Nothing is presumed as Cy is training hard over this Summer to ensure he has a great chance to become the starter after having to sit for so long over the past couple of years behind Stone and Fowler. While Weiss is a good talent, that doesn’t mean a person is set for a position because great individual talents can come from anywhere.
On the topic of Laxpower, those commits can and are usually put up by the players themselves. I could put in my name to any school, so it’s pretty reliable, it’s just up to the administrative person to be able to take a name down in the case the someone submitted their name in the instance that they were submitting false information and just being silly and were never a recruit and never committed anywhere.
